Solar Table For Outdoor PC Use

If you sometimes like to get out  and do some PC work in your backyard or by the pool. Take a look at SunTable, an outdoor solar table.

The outdoor solar table lets you power up your laptop via the Suns rays. The table is rather long, allowing more items than a single PC. It is also water-resistant. The table is a neat idea, and would be great for those who spend a good deal of time on the internet.

Approximate charge load is 4 hours, plenty of time for some good surfing.

The 27 Watt Powered Eco PC

Grad student Ben Chase has come up with an eco friendly PC, that uses up only 27 watts of power. Wow! That is amazing.

The working model is just that, a prototype, but if given funding and with the right marketing arsenal, a model for the masses shoudn’t be too far off. The green computer is upgradeable through the use of easy pull out modules, and runs the Windows system.

This reminds me of the challenges some universities pose to their students. They give the students a budget, a deadline, and tell them to come up with an idea that solves an existing problem. And sure enough (with only limited resources)  the students ”breakthough on the other side” and create awesome-ness.

ThrowPlace: Recycle Your TV, PC, Bed, or Couch.

Have a TV, couch, bed, printer, or car which you no longer use, but don’t want to trash it? Head on over to ThrowPlace, an online recycling resource, in which you list your items that are up for grabs.

You simply register, list your items, and then those who are interested, will notify you via the site. I’ve seen alot of goodies, everything from computers to bed frames, and everything in between. The site is completely FREE, there is no charge to register, list, browse, or respond.

Give ThrowPlace a visit, and recycle your gently used goods. Please note, the items you list should be in working order, don’t submit things that no one can re-use.

Go visit, then tell me what you think.

Don’t Buy a New PC, Upgrade It’s Memory!

I just ran into the most fabulous green site, it completely simplifies the process of upgrading the memory on your PC. I recently purchased a used Dell laptop, and according to this site, the salesmen lied to me.

According to Crucial.com, the max memory for my DELL Latitude C600 is 512 MB. The salesmen told me i could upgrade it to a max of 1,000 MB. Shame on you, Mr. Salesmen.

What i like best about this site, is that you enter in your desktop or laptop brand and model, and it gives you detailed memory upgrade information. It’s motto is, Don’t Buy a NEW PC, Upgrade Memory Instead.

Smart, money-saving, and eco friendly, too.

Look to Your Local PC Guy for PC Recycling

Most towns have local PC repair guys, especially useful are the independent guys. If you happen to have one nearby, look to him or her, next time you are looking to dispose of your used laptop, desktop, monitor, printer, etc.

Chances are if the electronic is still operational, your local PC shop, can turn around and either resell this item or donate it to a local school or organization. I would start with a phone call and see what options materialize.

In many states now it is illegal to dump your CRT monitor, desktop, or laptop into the trash bin. Not too mention that landfills are completely out of control with e-waste. Think of your friendly local PC guy next time you need to dispose of a computer.
