Solar power technology has come a long way in recent years. There was a time when it was only any good for calculators, but now solar power is becoming more available to everyone in a lot of different ways.
1
There is a new company called Sunrise Solar, who specialize in the production of solar panels. They have come up with an idea where the sunroof of car is replaced with their solar power unit. This will then keep the car battery fully charged

Solar power has been underestimated over the years and it is only now that the technology has advanced enough to make the materials cheaply enough that we are seeing many more products at affordable prices.

One particular item is the Soldius 1 Solar Charger, which has been designed to fully charge batteries in less than three hours, which is a very handy time because it is not too long to wait.

Wind power is brilliant, but there is so much opposition against wind farms and even when they get planning permission, a wind farm can be seriously expensive mean that the return on the investment makes for a long wait.

However, in the Netherlands, researchers from the Delft University of Technology are working a working model of variant of the wind farm, except this time, they are using kites to generate enough power for around ten homes, whi

Eco-friendly cars have been all the rage, but what about more fuel efficient, earth-friendly fancies of flight? Young designer Ronald Cernat recently made headlines by winning the Lucky Strike Junior Design Award with his potentially air-worthy eco-conscious aircraft.
Borrowing elements from other gliders, Cernat’s aircraft design relies mostly on aerodynamics for a relatively fuel-less flight. The mini-propellers, which are tucked into t

James Dyson is popular for designing and building outstanding new products which push the boundaries of design and technology, such as his revolutionary vacuum cleaner, which requires no bags and therefore does not lose any suction at all.
If he applies these same principles to the design of a solar or electric powered vehicle, which is suitable for families, then he would surely be onto another winner, wouldn’t he?

It’s an interesting concept that Sheila Kennedy from KVA Matx has, she is a great believer in integrating solar cell technology into the design of buildings and structures. They have gone so far as to design the Soft House which uses curtains to produce 16,000 watt hours of electricity.
Virtually every office building or home has either blinds or curtains, but they have never been used before to produce power, which is really a waste because t

It’s about time that solar power became hip, before it was only for the rich people and calculators, but now the technology has been invested in and we will be seeing some really cool innovations as designers see that there is some potential in the sun.
With so many uses, the Sun-Brella is a pretty neat tool, not only do you get a bit of from the sun; you can also get power from it at the same time. The device has been designed to supposedly p

When a solar power table comes along, they are normally large and heavy affairs, however this one from Solo is completely the opposite to that, in fact it is totally stylish and just looks great.
However the images show the woman using a laptop, I am not quite sure that a laptop can be charged up by using this table, we need a closer look at the specs in order to find that one out, and smaller electrical items are ok though.

This is not your ordinary DIY job; these panels are made from discarded and broken solar panels that can be found down at the tip or any other place that may take trash. But what the people who have thrown these away do not realise is that these panels are still ok to use. Sure they don’t as clean and shiny as new ones, but they are free and do work!
Tools needed:
To start making solar panels from broken solar cells you need a few things.
